What cards are used in pinochle?
A 48-card pinochle deck contains two copies of each ace, 10, king, queen, jack, and nine in all four suits.
What is a pinochle meld?
The namesake meld is the queen of spades with the jack of diamonds. It scores 4 in the common shortened scoring system; double pinochle scores 30.
How much is a run worth?
A, 10, K, Q, and J in trump score 15. Holding both copies of all five cards is a double run worth 150.
Can one card count in more than one meld?
Yes, when the melds are in different classes. A queen of spades can contribute to an around, a pinochle, and a marriage, but it cannot be counted twice in the same meld class.
How many trick points are available?
In the shortened partnership scoring system, aces, tens, and kings captured in tricks are one point each, plus one for the final trick, for 25 total.
