Learn the patterns Faster decisions

Think like a basic-strategy player.

You do not need to memorize every square at once. Start with the patterns that appear most often, then use focused drills to fill the gaps.

01

Read the dealer first

Dealer 2 through 6 are vulnerable cards. With many stiff hands, let the dealer take the bust risk. Dealer 7 through Ace usually demand a more aggressive response.

02

Know the pair anchors

Always split Aces and eights. Never split tens or fives: stand on 20, and play a pair of fives like a hard 10.

03

Use the Ace

A soft hand cannot bust with one hit. That flexibility creates extra opportunities to hit or double, especially against weak dealer cards.

Quick answers Blackjack basics

Before you practice.

What is basic strategy?

Basic strategy is the mathematically preferred hit, stand, double, split, or surrender decision for your cards and the dealer’s upcard under a particular rule set.

Is this gambling or financial advice?

No. This trainer is an educational study tool. Its recommendations are general examples, do not account for every casino rule or game condition, and cannot guarantee profits or prevent losses.

Does this guarantee a win?

No. Blackjack has short-term variance, and correct decisions can still lose. Basic strategy is designed to reduce the house advantage over many hands.

Which rules does the chart use?

The printable chart assumes multiple decks, dealer stands on soft 17, double after split is allowed, and late surrender is available. Change the trainer settings to practice common variations.
